French Resistance member Georges Blind smiling in front of a German execution squad. October 1944. This turned out to be a mock execution designed to make him talk. Georges never did. He was sent to a concentration camp and was selected for termination. He died in November 1944.

Warrior dogs have been helping the US military since the Civil War.

They also saw action in WWI but only in an informal capacity. In WWII, canines officially joined the Armed Forces. Today, over 2800 dogs are serving around the world including Iraq and Afghanistan.

One very special dog helped a commando team hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden. Give that Rover a Congressional Medal of Honor.
