Daniel Arsham‘s art is inspired by Hurricane Andrew destroying his Miami home in 1992. How’s that for turning lemons into lemonade?

Arsham moved moved to New York, probably thinking it was safe from hurricanes, and started making art from crushed glass.

The artist says of the work: “After witnessing first hand the dramatic and destructive force of nature, I was inspired to transform the devastating energy I observed in the storm and reform it to a new and imaginative purpose.”
