WE MAKE CARPETS is a small group of artists in The Netherlands that create “carpets” from unusual items. To name a few:  plastic forks, plasters, paving tiles, pasta, cotton balls, paperclips, coffee,  and band-aids.

At first, I regarded this project as just another web based WTF, but perhaps it is legit.  WE MAKE CARPETS showcases their work all over Europe. For example, the Candybar Carpet was commissioned by the Slokdarm festival, Veghel, The Netherlands. It was exhibited in an old factory outside the city.

I was impressed how these artists had woven, zing, their contemporary art form to the past glory of rug making. Their site explains how intricate rug designs had for centuries attracted top talent whose products commanded top dollar.

Well done guys.
